White Noise 2: The Light (2007): A man’s family is killed and he is brought back from the verge of death, he then realises he can identify people who are about to die.
The hook for me to check out this movie are the two lead actors: Nathan Fillion and XXXX.
They both give a good performance, especially Fillion. This is a dramatic role for him, without his usual funny banter, and he pulls it off well.
The plot is very simple once you understand how it works, but before that it seems complex and not intriguing. In some parts it also just doesn’t make a lot of sense.
But the biggest problem with this movie is tone. At first I though this was a horror, but it felt more like a supernatural thriller to me. However there are still some scenes that go beyond thriller and become horror.
The ending felt a bit rushed, I think it was supposed to be tense but I didn’t feel that tension at all. At least it doesn’t have a Hollywood ending.
Not a great movie, interesting for lovers of supernatural thrillers/horror movies.
