I am finally caught up with this fun animated series. This series really doesn’t work well when watched in big chunks. I usually like to watch a season in big chunks of episodes in the course of a few weeks, instead of 1 episode a week for months. In this case, I think watching weekly episodes actually works best.
This season delves deeper into the past, often featuring the old Team Venture and their adventures. We also learn more about Doc Girlfriend and Monarch’s past, as well as Billy’s secret past, which is always fun to watch.
The Monarch’s struggle to give up arching Doc Venture is one of the main plots of the season. He’s constantly checking up on Venture, while dealing with his current lame arch-nemesis. In the meantime Venture has to deal with his new arch-nemesis Sgt. Hatred.
The season ends with Brock stripped of his OSI status, on the run and hunted by assassins. In the end he pits OSI against The Monarch and manages to survive. But as with last season’s ending we get a possibly status changing finale.
After 3 seasons, my opinion about this series hasn’t changed much. I like it, it’s funny at times and there are a lot of references I enjoy, especially to comics. But I can’t watch too many episodes in a row.
Season Rating: 3 Stars
