The first movie was interesting enough for me and my wife, so it felt natural to watch the sequel as well. Plus we were looking for something lighter to watch.
This movie follows the format of the original, having the four friends in separate places of the world, sending the “magic pants” to each other. Each have their own “adventures”.
The pants have a slightly smaller role this time, for one reason or another the girls seem to have lost faith in them and don’t even wear them all the time. At the end the pants are even lost and we never see them again.
Ironically, Bridget’s story doesn’t involve any romance this time, after her very flirtatious behavior in the first movie. Tibby has problems with her boyfriend, Lena gets the spotlight in the big finale, but it felt repetitive (same boyfriend, same place).
Carmen seems the one who got the most rounded story. She’s dealing with feeling left out by the other girls, as well as left out from her mother’s new life. But she also has a romance and learns to be more confident about her own abilities. Unfortunately she’s not my favorite character.
This movie is what it is, I can’t say I had a wonderful time with it, but it wasn’t unpleasant.
