This is a movie that doesn’t appeal to me. It revolves around a series of TV interviews between Frost and Nixon after Watergate, but there was a lot of smoke and not much substance in the end.
Everything that preceded the interviews themselves was not very interesting to me. They tried to insert some romance between Frost and Caroline (Rebecca Hall), but that went nowhere.
Langella is definitely good as Nixon, he’s the main reason I liked the actual interviews. Unfortunately Michael Sheen didn’t impress me as much. He looked too dumb at the beginning of the interviews, too overwhelmed. And then because of a simple piece of information, suddenly he’s the smartest man on TV.
This is a good movie, but I don’t see how it can get so many Oscar nominations.
