I only watched this for 2 reasons: Roger Ebert recommended it, and Asia Argento stars in it. I am not a huge fan of her, but he is one of the few international Italian actresses.
This was a well constructed costumed love story, which focused on the tormented and passionate love between Ryno and La Vellini. I could clearly see why they loved and hated each other at the same time.
However my big problem with the story is that we don’t see why Ryno loves Hermangarde at all, which is the main point of the story. That was something that nagged me the whole movie, something I hoped would be corrected by the end of the movie, but never was.
In the end this didn’t impress me too much.
