Futurama: Bender’s Big Score

After the cancellation of Futurama, there were talks of resurrecting it in a different format. This was decided to be a series of direct to DVD movies. The first one is a great time travel story that I enjoyed immensely. They really took a classic sci-fi story and adaptated it to Futurama and its characters.

The time travel aspect of it makes perfect sense, until towards the end it just becomes a parody of itself, which is a great funny way of ending the movie. The big reveal about Lars was well done, even though I figured it out early on, simply based on his look and his voice.

I also thought it was a nice Leela/Fry story, which furthered their relationship just a little bit, without actually getting anywhere.

The overall plot was very complex, so it suited the longer running time perfectly. But my favorite part was seeing Fry back in his own time, re-vising the day he was frozen. That day has been re-visited many times already, but this time it was explained.

This was a great story for the first Futurama movie, I can’t wait for the rest of them.
