I’ve only started reading the new series of Green Lantern, so I am not familiar with Hal Jordan’s origins. Thus this re-telling is perfect for me.
All main events in this story were referenced in past issues, so I knew the broad strokes of the story. But I had no idea about the details and how they affected the various characters and their relationships.
With hindsight, Johns managed to explain even more deeply some of the characters motivations, for example why Abin Sur crashed on Earth, or Hal’s family background. I also finally got to see Sinestro as the greatest GL and how he met Hal.
Reis delivers great art as usual, his clean style is full of dynamism and clarity, it keeps growing on me all the time.
A great story that subtly sets up upcoming events with great art to boot. Sold.
