After the great time travel movie, here’s another classic sci-fi story about an alien entity that takes control of humanity. The Futurama spin is that Yivo (the alien planet) actually falls in love with humanity and starts dating them. They even get married and humanity leaves Earth to the robots.
To start, this type of sci-fi story has never been a favorite of mine. But in general I think this movie was all over the place. They were trying to tie all the various characters’ subplots together, but it just didn’t feel organic.
Even though this story was of global proportions, I just didn’t feel attached to it and it didn’t matter to me. I wasn’t touched by the personal relationships, and I was angry that Amy cheated on Kif with Branagan of all people!!
But I was amused by the planet dating, marrying and finally breaking up with Yivo.
In general I was very disappointed by this movie.
