SPOILERS WARNING!!
This penultimate volume contains 5 single issue stories that lead us to the final volume.
Issue 84 is about Sigmar Rhone, a powerful member of the Trust. He seemingly is a family man, has a beautiful wife and kids, but he obviously likes other women. He has sex with Megan’s assistant who tells him that Graves, Javier and Augustus have plans together. But it’s too late, Victor and Remi kill everybody, including his family.
Next we see the Medici having BBQ together with Megan. The new relationship between Megan and Augustus is explored. But the meat of the issue is the return of Sophie who takes her revenge with Lono (she was raped by him way back in #19). But she doesn’t kill him. Brilliant. We’ve been waiting for someone to “give it to” Lono for a long time, and I can’t think of a better way.
Victor stars in the next issue where he kills two more members of the Trust: Helena and Constance. It’s a pity that we don’t even know Constance’s surname, I didn’t even realize she was the 13th family until I made the calculations. The 13 families were supposed to be so important, instead some of them barely have a cameo. But Victor also takes care of personal business, though I am not sure how he’s related to Justin. This probably has something to do with Graves’ attache’.
Next, Joan D’Arcy finds Mr. Slaughter and pays him for an assassination job. Slaughter is an ex-Minutemen, supposedly retired but he does a job every now and then. This job is not Graves though. Also he’s the father of a current Minutemen. Meanwhile Remi goes to kill D’Arcy, but after killing everyone else he doesn’t find her. He had the wrong info, but Graves is still pissed at him.
The final issue of the volume sees Cole getting the painting from Ronnie (I guess Echo didn’t kill him after all). Cole is angry at Remi for killing Wylie, so he wants to kill Ronnie. But does he? Meanwhile Branch is killed by Echo in the same spot where Cole killed Peres.
That will lead us to the final volume of this great series. Many are dead, but I’m sure there’s gonna be plenty more.
