It’s finally over. As expected the cliffhanger from last issue is dealt with quickly, as a flashback. There isn’t even any fight, since all heroes are next to the trinity to protect them. The CSA can only fled.
Another part of the issue is dedicated to wrapping up all the various plots. I’ll just mention them here for the record:
- Enigma and Steph/Void Hound
- Morgaine, Despero and Kanjar Ro
- Konvikt, aka Xalitan Xor
- Tarot and Gangbuster (finally!!)
- The Dreambounds
- Tomorrow Woman is still here!!
I’ll be curious to see if these characters will be seen in other DC books, not written by Busiek.
Another part of the issue is about a party with all heroes in civilian clothes. This obviously ends with the trinity talking with their loved ones, nicely explaining their role in the DC universe.
The epilogue sees Krona depowered and back to his original planet, one that might be Earth One? I don’t wanna go into the multiverse theory, my head is exploding just mentioning it.
It’s fitting that all the artists that contributed to this series have drawn pages for this last issue. I wish Norton could have been inked by Ordway, but i’m nitpicking. I really like Bagley’s final splash page of the trinity, very nice perspective.
This series was well concieved and well executed by all creators. It had its flaws, due to the format of the series. But at the same time it allowed to dive into so many secondary characters.
I wish the Trinity didn’t go away for so long, or that at least they’d be Gods for less issues. I really missed them in their normal form, which they only went back to in the last few issues.
This was definitely a fun series, well written and well drawn. I can’t believe they didn’t miss one single deadline. I on the other hand missed my review deadline many times. At first I missed a few times, but managed to recover the week after. However I was so late in the third part of the series that I wrote about 10 reviews in one week. I’m still late on all other reviews (3 months late by now) but I’m glad I finished Trinity in time.
I don’t think I’ll ever try something like this again, I’ll just stick to trades/storylines reviews.
