Two Towers really increased the epic scale of this story. Not only we get a huge battle, more monsters and “good guys”, but also get the best characterizations. Now that the fellowship is divided, we get to know each character better and better. My favorite is probable Frodo/Sam and Gollum. That has to be the highlight of the movie: a completely CGI character that emotes just as much as a human actor.
Even though it’s a CGI character, the acting is based on Andy Serkis. So even though he didn’t actually appear on screen, his acting is very much a part of Gollum. This being a new thing, nobody actually predicted this, but thanks to Serkis talent and dedication, they created an even better performance.
I really love this movie, even more than the first one. I don’t understand why people would find it boring. I watched the extended cut and I couldn’t wait for more.
