It’s finally over. As expected the cliffhanger from last issue is dealt with quickly, as a flashback. There isn’t even any fight, since all heroes are next to the trinity to protect them. The CSA can only fled.

Another part of the issue is dedicated to wrapping up all the various plots. I’ll just mention them here for the record:

- Enigma and Steph/Void Hound
- Morgaine, Despero and Kanjar Ro
- Konvikt, aka Xalitan Xor
- Tarot and Gangbuster (finally!!)
- The Dreambounds
- Tomorrow Woman is still here!!

I’ll be curious to see if these characters will be seen in other DC books, not written by Busiek.

Another part of the issue is about a party with all heroes in civilian clothes. This obviously ends with the trinity talking with their loved ones, nicely explaining their role in the DC universe.

The epilogue sees Krona depowered and back to his original planet, one that might be Earth One? I don’t wanna go into the multiverse theory, my head is exploding just mentioning it.

It’s fitting that all the artists that contributed to this series have drawn pages for this last issue. I wish Norton could have been inked by Ordway, but i’m nitpicking. I really like Bagley’s final splash page of the trinity, very nice perspective.

This series was well concieved and well executed by all creators. It had its flaws, due to the format of the series. But at the same time it allowed to dive into so many secondary characters.

I wish the Trinity didn’t go away for so long, or that at least they’d be Gods for less issues. I really missed them in their normal form, which they only went back to in the last few issues.

This was definitely a fun series, well written and well drawn. I can’t believe they didn’t miss one single deadline. I on the other hand missed my review deadline many times. At first I missed a few times, but managed to recover the week after. However I was so late in the third part of the series that I wrote about 10 reviews in one week. I’m still late on all other reviews (3 months late by now) but I’m glad I finished Trinity in time.

I don’t think I’ll ever try something like this again, I’ll just stick to trades/storylines reviews.

This is the issue where most if not all the plots are wrapped up. Because of that, this issue feels like a melting pot instead of a coherent story.

First we see many different scenes that somehow wrap up most characters arcs. Not only the heroes but also the “villains” of the series, like the Dreambounds.

Then the evil Trinity completely turn on each other, effectively annulling their threat to the Trinity. Enigma actually has been fighting against Morgaine for some time, but now there really is no alliance anymore. It’s a wonder they ever managed to get together in the first place.

I liked the scene about Stephie, she’s the only reason Enigma didn’t kill himself. But what did Batman do? Was that the Voidhound?

And finally the trinity is back to their normal mortal selves, I must say I missed them in the past few weeks, that Bagley page was really effective.

But there’s one last cliffhanger, the CSA is back. Again!! I hope they will be dealt with in the first few pages of next issue, giving us a quite ending, maybe with the trinity having drinks at a bar like in the first issue.

Nothing really happens though, it’s just a lot of fun action. Meanwhile Tarot is finally saved by Charity and Gangbuster, though the Worldsoul is in trouble.

The backup story sees narrates how Luthor gained important information about the power Krona and Morgaine are using. He then manages to deliver the information to the Trinity allowing Batman to formulate a plan.

With only 5 issues left, things are really gearing up for the big finale.

Here we see Morgaine attacked by Despero and CSA, but she manages to strike an alliance with Despero, the same way she did with Enigma, through their shared dream (that seems so long ago). Kanjar Ro is the only one screwed, so he’s kept prisoner. While the CSA can’t wait to deal with the Trinity, and possibly steal their power.

I felt it was a bit too easy for Despero and CSA to accept Morgaine’s help. Before they were so eager to attack Morgaine and company, but I guess they’re all too greedy.

The backup story sees the Trinity continue to deal with their loved ones, trying to explain to them that they are Gods now and have a bigger purpose than to spend time with them. I really do feel the loved ones are just spoiled brats that crave attention from their parents.

The JLA/JSA is also continuing to aid them, even though they don’t seem to appreciate the help. Meanwhile Morgaine and company are back at the catle, trying to find a solution to defeat the Trinity, they don’t seem to be able to find one, but they’re interrupted by Despero, Kanjar Ro and the CSA.

In the backup story, the loved ones are back to their normal lives, except for the Trinity. They try everything to get their attention, but they can only do so much. They decide to go to Europe and talk to them in person. But the Trinity still refuses them, because they’re now Gods. To be honest, the loved ones seem almost like children needing attention from their parents. But the parents in this case are Gods and have better things to do.

Metropolis is now back to normal, some characters are turning back to their true nature, some dead some old. But there is still much work to do, which is why the Trinity just disappear to go change the rest of the world.

The backup story is all about the Void Hound, its history and recent past with John Stewart. Now he’s working for Krona, who promises him entire planets to devour. I wasn’t all that interested in this story, the backup stories haven’t been interesting in the last few issues.

And here’s the huge epic battle between the two arcanas, everything the two sides have been working on is going to be resolved in this battle. Bagley goes all out, drawing as many characters as it’s possible, making this seem like a Crisis-worthy story.

But in the middle of this battle, the backup story stars Konvikt and his struggle to do the right thing. He’s now helping Morgaine, in order to regain his honor, but is it the right choice? Graak doesn’t seem to think so, hence Morgaine kills him out of the blue. I would have thought he cared more about Graak, but for the moment he’s still listening to Morgaine.

The final page was expected and longed for: the Trinity is back to kick Morgaine’s ass!!

The backup story is all about Hawkman and his fight against Vandal Savage. The JSI is still losing to the dark arcana, even though they have a direct link to Tarot. They just don’t seem to be able to win the battles.

Alfred’s group is closer and closer to the Trinity, they appear to the natives and they instantly idolize them. Also Donna Troy is getting her powers back, even though she still doesn’t understand them. Tarot and Charity wonder if they should call the JSI, so Charity reads Tarot’s cards.

This flows into the second story where the JSI is fighting with the time/space rifts in Metropolis, against the Dreambounds. Again Luthor is the only one who knows what’s more important, even when Hall tells him that saving lives is never wrong, in this instance I think Luthor is right. In the end Tomorrow Woman saves Metropolis, but many other rifts appear in other cities, and Brainiac is now free.

Back to Tarot, she decides to take herself off the table to allow the JSI to try to save the world, but the Dreambound are already after her and capture her. The Tarot thread really doesn’t interest me too much, I do like that she’s the Wolrdsoul, it’s a nice concept but I just don’t care about her.

But I can’t wait for Alfred and his group to find the Trinity, I am curious to learn what they did and how long they’ve been teaching the natives.

The main story features the group that Alfred put together in search of the missing trinity. This is the story that I am really curious to read about. I am really missing the trinity, so I can’t wait for this group to finally find them and bring them back into the story.

It’s worth noting that the people of this world look like Konvikt, so I wonder what the connection is. I liked the way this culture is based on the personalities of the trinity. Each priest represents one of the trinity: night, sun, truth. Only when they judge together will they reach a just verdict.

The backup story sees the Dreambounds continue to fight against the heroes and go back to Morgaine. Meantime the scientists debate over how to deal with the reality burps. I like that Luthor seems the only one that knows what the big picture is. The others seems to just react to the little crisis and trying to plug the “leaks”.

The first story really injected freshness to the series, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. That sounded way worse than I intended, I am enjoying this series, but I am just missing the trinity and can’t wait to have them back.
